the passing of my Father

A sad day.  My father past away on the 5th of July.  As most of you know, my father was very independent and loved his personal space.  He had many friends and knew most everyone in Reno.

"John Vernon Taylor, Sr., 81, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, in Reno, Nev. Mr. Taylor was born on March 25, 1935, in Chattanooga, to the late James and Nannie Taylor. He was a staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and retired as an architect with 30 years of service from Washoe County, Nev. He was preceded in death by his brothers, William, Doyle, and James Taylor; sisters, Juanita Wooten and Francis Taylor. Survivors include his children, John (Patti) Taylor, Jr., of Chattanooga, Angela (Wallace) Bates, of Apison, Les (Kristen) Taylor, Sparks, Nev., Tom (Stacey) Taylor, of Reno, Nev., and Lorraine Schenk, of Reno, Nev.; grandchildren, Dallas Taylor, Shannon Good, Eric Bates, Josh Bates, Jordan Taylor, Madison Taylor, Morgan Taylor, Cody Quirk, and Haley Quirk; six great-grandchildren; sister, Paulette (Dewey) Manning, of Ooltewah; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services with full military honors will be held Friday, July 29, 2016, at 12:30 p.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675. Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home & Crematory, at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville."

    

John Jr came to Reno to help with the tasks at hand.
